Investors seeking the good things in life are flocking to Italy...

“Those with a substantial sum of money to invest are seeking the more established markets”, says Linda Travella of Casa Travella, an expert in the Italian property market for a number of years and a frequent guest speaker on radio and television.

Continues Linda, “There has been, in the last 2/3 years an interest in emerging countries such as Croatia, Bulgaria and other similar Eastern European countries. Clients who are looking to invest larger amounts of money are turning to the stable markets, which inevitably have a good infrastructure and culture plus of course quality restaurants, bars and boutiques.

“They are seeking the good things in life and Italy has that in abundance and I have noticed that people are investing ever more, with many people looking to spend over a million euros.

Italy is thriving

Working in the property market, I am aware that some companies are talking about a down turn in the market, but Italy is thriving. I think people are returning to look at the stable markets where they are sure of their investment, and they are favouring an area where travelling from the UK is quick and easy which is paramount to their lifestyles.”

If you are looking for a wonderful home and a secure investment then why not consider a very spacious villa with view situated on the shores of Lake Garda at Sirmione. On the market for 3million euros, £2.07million, the villa is set in an acre of beautiful grounds and gardens. Currently split into two separate apartments the homes have a wonderful swimming pool and tennis court and two floors of excellent accommodation plus a basement.

For one million euros, £690,000, you could own a property which was only built in 2005 and is located at Caramagna, just 3 km from Imperia in Western Liguria. This beautifully created home of some 380square metres has five bedrooms and three bathrooms together with study and two expansive lounges. With balconies from the top floor giving superb views and overlooking the beautiful garden with swimming pool, this is an excellent property that will require very little maintenance, captures the spirit of an Italian designed home, and is just 15 minutes from the Mediterranean.

So much to offer

You could own a home by the sea in the ever sought after and much loved region of Tuscany for 2.2 million euros, £1.5 million. This wonderful detached villa, is located in Castiglione della Pescaia on the Tuscan coast. Villa Castiglione is just 300 metres from the sea and affords 205 sq metres of living space. Designed in 1968 by the architect Ugo Maglietta, it offers three bathrooms and three bedrooms plus two imposing terraces and half an acre of ground.

Concluded Linda, “Italy is a country with so much to offer. A secure investment, a short flight time, good weather, friendly welcoming people, wonderful countryside, beaches and towns and a history going back thousands of years. Ask anyone if they would like a holiday in Italy and they will say yes. If you own a home there you can visit whenever you wish and enjoy the summer sunshine or winter sports.”
