People looking to stay or invest in property in Cyprus are taking advantage of the recent launch of a new service there, an official at Stansted airport has said...
A new offering from SunExpress flies twice a week to Izmir in Turkey and then on to Ercan in Northern Cyprus, owing to current restrictions meaning that all flights must connect via mainland Turkey.
Nick Barton, Stansted's business development and planning director, said that the anticipated popularity of this route is part of ongoing growth in tourism to the region.
"Northern Cyprus is one of Europe’s newly emerging tourist markets and with current restrictions meaning all flights must connect via mainland Turkey, it’s great news that Ercan now has a low-cost link from the UK with SunExpress services from Stansted," Mr Barton commented.
"SunExpress has enjoyed great success on its route to Antalya from Stansted since it began earlier this year and advance bookings show that the Izmir/Ercan links are set to be just as popular."
The Cyprus property market is not the only industry set to experience improved access from Stansted, as Mr Barton pointed out that the airport is currently in negotiations to improve services to destinations such as Dubai and India.
