News: New law boosts Brazil investors

Wed, 27 Jun 07

Regulatory reforms recently enacted in Brazil enhance the country's profile as an immigration destination by easing restrictions on investor-class immigration...

"A law was passed in Brazil, whereby the investment for obtaining a permanent visa was lowered from $200,000 to only $50,000 USD," said Marcio Carvalho, spokesperson for Bionexus Brazil (www.bionexus.biz)

Investors must form a Brazilian company and the bank account for that Brazilian company must be registered with the Central Bank of Brazil.

The $50,000 USD must pass through the Central Bank into the investor's Brazilian company bank, but remains under the investor's control at all times and can be used for any real estate investment.

When investors transfer money legally -- from their bank through the Central Bank of Brazil (Banco Central) and back to their own bank account in Brazil -- the money remains at the investor's disposal at all times and under their sole control.

Carvalho added: "There simply is no comparison with programs in Central American countries like Costa Rica and Panama. We've heard of those countries charging up to $80,000 USD to obtain a permanent visa.

“Furthermore, the investment goes to government tree planting projects or other projects that you have no control over and from which it is doubtful that you will ever receive a penny of profit. Consider it a donation.”

Registration system ‘foolproof’

Investors in Brazil, by contrast, can choose their own investment. Many use Bionexus for help in identifying investment opportunities. If the investment includes an apartment or any other real property, it will be registered in the retirees own name.

The registration system in Brazil is 100% foolproof. It has been operating successfully for many years, even for overseas investors from all over the world.

"It might be an excellent idea for you to invest your money here in a holiday apartment, where you could spend your vacations in the wonderful environment of Brazil," suggested Carvalho.

A property management company, such as Bionexus, can supervise the apartment while residents are not here and even rent it for shorter or longer periods while the apartment is not occupied. Any rental contract must be signed by the investor.

Real estate profits in Brazil, in general, run at about 15% annually and for apartments near the beach, it increases up to 25% and more. Real estate can even be a solid and secure investment for the future and facilitate possible retirement in Brazil.

The program works

Bionexus provides the following eight reasons investors consider the Brazilian Resident Investor Status program:

  • Applicants can work building their own business.

  • Investors need only spend a minimum amount of time per year in Brazil, as little as a few days every two years.

  • Applicants are pre-approved by the Government.

  • Applicants and their family members may work at any endeavour.

  • The program covers an investor's entire family, including spouse and children under 18.

  • After only four years, emigrees can earn Brazilian citizenship and travel on a Brazilian passport.

  • Participation costs as little as $50,000 per family.

  • Brazil has favourable tax and extradition laws.

Resident Investor Status

Unlike former Brazilian residency programs that restricted applicants to certain areas of Brazil, the new program offers residency anywhere in Brazil for applicant and family? New residents choose when, where and how they live and work in Brazil.
