News: Investors relax in Bulgarian spa resorts

Thu, 05 Jul 07

All over Bulgaria, luxurious, self-contained resorts are being built which are making investor dreams into reality...

You probably keep hearing about the money to be made by investing in property in the new emerging markets of the former Eastern Bloc countries, but perhaps the thought of the stress involved in the whole buying procedure is putting you off.

Yes, property buying can be a stressful thing to do, but if you can see a very shiny light at the end of the tunnel, surely it’s worth a little bit of hard work.  And if that shiny light includes an enchanting spa staffed by lovely people who are on hand to pamper you from head to toe, wouldn’t that be a dream come true?

All over Bulgaria, luxurious, self-contained resorts are being built which are making dreams into reality.  These resorts have spas fitted with saunas, steam rooms, mud baths, plunge pools and hydro pools.

Often also included in the purchase price are fully equipped gyms, swimming pools and tennis courts.  Added extras, such as golf, waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, etc are also regularly available at a charge.

Plus, within the complexes you will frequently find restaurants, bars, shops, launderettes, banks, crèches, etc, so if you want, you need never leave the resort.  And the light just keeps on getting shinier!

But if you think that all this pampering comes at a high price, think again.

Primed to make money

Apartments in one of these resorts are available for less than the price of a second hand BMW.  And unlike buying a car, you won’t lose money as soon as you drive it off the forecourt, you’ll be making money instead.

Whilst the value of a car keeps depreciating, the value of property in Bulgaria just keeps going up and up.  Plus, when you’re not making the most of the facilities yourself, you could be renting it out.  On-site management companies are often available to organise this on your behalf and they promise maximum up take.

When so many of our lives are full of stress from working long hours, how nice would it be to know that less than a three hour flight away lies a mini heaven that’s all your own?  Airlines such as Britannia Airways, Wizz Air and Excel Airways fly directly from 15 UK airports into Bourgas Airport on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

Purchase procedure ‘straightforward’

Then a fifteen minute drive from the airport will take you to a village called Aheloy, where a new complex called the Aheloy Beach Residence is being built right on the beachfront.  Studios, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments are all available complete with balconies, air conditioning and all the facilities mentioned above.

So how many hundreds of thousands will you need for the pleasure?  Think again.  Prices start from just £35,000 / €51,700.  However, if your piggy bank is looking a little empty, fear not, mortgages are readily available for non-Bulgarian residents, with one British lender estimating that Bulgaria will account for a quarter of all overseas mortgages broker business by 2020.

With a well established agent, the purchase procedure can be fairly straightforward and hassle free.  It helps if you choose one that speaks English and knows the area for a start.
