News: Grainger launches build-to-rent project in Hampshire

Wed, 28 Feb 18

A new development featuring the first family houses built exclusively for rent in Hampshire has been launched by Grainger, the UK’s largest residential landlord.

The project, made up of 29 two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, with rents starting at £1,025 per month, is located in Berewood, which is a major regeneration scheme in Waterlooville, just outside Portsmouth.

The houses at Berewood follow the release of 24 rental flats last Autumn, with more due for completion this Spring.

Many new ‘build-to-rent’ schemes are targeted specifically at young professionals, but Lisa O’Connor from Jeffries Estate Agents has welcomed the fact that this family-focused rental scheme is aimed at young families.

O’Connor said: “Despite more and more families renting, there is a shortage of rental homes suitable for parents with children. These new houses by Grainger at Berewood will help cater to this growing demand.”

Grainger is offering up to five-year tenancies, with flexible break clauses, and what it claims will be transparent annual rental increases.

Anish Thobhani, customer operations director at Grainger, commented: “When people think of renters the stereotype is often young, single and recently out of university, but that is an increasingly out-dated view.

“At Grainger we’re committed to offering quality homes at an accessible price point to people across all walks of life, and we believe these new family houses for rent will raise the bar locally.”
