Romanian property is in demand amongst FTBs, a property expert has claimed...

Helen Adams, managing director of FirstRungNow.com, explained that rapidly escalating values in the UK are pricing many FTBs out of the market.

Consequently, some people are looking at sectors such as the Romanian property market, not necessarily for a place to live, but for an investment that will offer them an additional income for a deposit in the UK.

Commenting on this trend, Ms Adams said: "Quite a lot of people are looking at eastern Europe: Romania, Bulgaria and also Turkey. The cheaper places are where they're going to get the most growth".

According to the latest figures from the Department for Communities and Local Government, the average price of a home in the UK was £205,286 in January 2007, compared to £201,090 in December 2006.
