News: Saga augments health cash plan

Saga Health Insurance is expanding its range of Health Cash Plans - the new cash plan level three providing increased levels of cover for a range of benefits, including up to £190 of cover for both dental and optical treatment and up to £600 for therapies including physiotherapy and osteopathy.

The ever increasing cost of dental treatment is leading more people to turn to health cash plans as a way of funding their dental bills. With the average private check up costing around £40-50 and a small filling costing from £80-100, this comes as no surprise. Saga for its part says it has seen a 5% increase in the number of claims for dental treatment in the last year and dental treatment makes up one third of the total claims made.

The Saga plan enables customers to claim back much of the money spent on everyday health expenses such as dental and optical treatment and hearing aid devices - the cost of the plan starting from £3.25 a week.

It now offers 3 levels of cover - dependent children under 18 covered at no extra charge.

There is also no limit on the age at which people can join, nor are there any age-related premium increases once joined.
