UK housing market analysis, by Home.co.uk, reveals the hundred worst towns for selling residential property for December 2008. Hardest hit by the credit crunch, these towns have the longest average marketing time of any town with over 100 properties for sale.
Average property marketing times in these stagnant markets range from 314 days for Aberystwyth to 237 days for Whickham. The largest conurbation listed is Middlesbrough with around 2,900 homes for sale, each of which on average will need 258 days on the market before finding a buyer.
House prices in these particularly weak property markets may be expected to fall further than elsewhere in the UK in 2009 and are perhaps the epitome of a "buyers’ market."
